Esther 5

Esth. 5:1   Now it was on the third day that Esther put on royal apparel and stood in the inner court of the house of the king in front of the house of the king, and the king was sitting on his royal throne in the royal house opposite the entrance of the house.

The third day?  Well, that probably means that Esther was still fasting.  Amazing!

Esth. 5:2   And it was, as the king was seeing Esther, the queen, standing in the court, she sustained favor in his eyes and the king extended to Esther the gold scepter, which was in his hand.  Then Esther approached and touched on the top of the scepter.

Esth. 5:3   And the king said to her, “How is it with you, Esther,” (who was the queen) “and what is your request?  Even half the kingdom, and it is given to you!”

Esth. 5:4   And Esther said, “If it is according to the good king, let the king come with Haman today to the banquet that I have prepared for him.”

Esth. 5:5   And the king said, “Make haste, Haman, to do the word of Esther.”  So the king came with Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

Esth. 5:6   And the king said to Esther at the banquet of wine, “Whatever your demand, and it is granted to you.  Or what is your request?  Even half the kingdom, and it is done!”

Esth. 5:7   And Esther responded and she said, “My demand and my request are,

Esth. 5:8   If I have found favor in the eyes of the king, and if it is according to the good king to grant my demand and to do my request, let the king come with Haman to the banquet that I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do according to the word of the king.”

Esth. 5:9   Then Haman went forth on that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai at the gate of the king, that he did not rise or tremble in terror because of him, Haman became full of rage concerning Mordecai.

Esth. 5:10   But Haman restrained himself, and went to his house and sent and had his friends and Zeresh, his wife, brought in.

Esth. 5:11   And Haman recounted to them the abundance of his wealth and the multitude of his children, and all by which the king had made him great, and that he had lifted him over the princes and the servants of the king.

Esth. 5:12   Then Haman said, “Moreover, Esther, the queen, did not bring in but me only with the king to the banquet that she had made, and tomorrow I am also being summoned to her with the king.”

Esth. 5:13   “But all of that is not worth it to me when I am always seeing Mordecai, the Jew, sitting at the gate of the king.”

Esth. 5:14   So Zeresh, his wife, said to him along with all his friends, “Let fifty-cubit high gallows be made, and in the morning speak to the king, and they will hang Mordecai on it.  Then go with the king to the banquet joyfully.”  And the thing was good before Haman, and he prepared the gallows.
