Another missing et before a direct object:  It should be before the second-from-last word in the verse, which is translated as the house.

Another missing et before a direct object:  It should be before the fifth word in the verse, which is translated as cedar trees.  In addition, let me point out that the Zidonians were inhabitants of the Phoenician city Zidon.  The name may also be applied to the whole Phoenician population, as Zidon was their principal city.

וַיְהִי כִּשְׁמֹעַ חִירָם אֶת־דִּבְרֵי שְׁלֹמֹה וַיִּשְׂמַח מְאֹד וַיֹּאמֶר בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה הַיּוֹם אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לְדָוִד בֵּן חָכָם   5:21 עַל־הָעָם הָרָב הַזֶּה׃

1Kin. 5:26   And the Lord gave wisdom to Solomon as He had promised to him and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a league.

                                                                                                                           [Return to Amos 1:9]

The et missing in a similar phrase in v. 5:9 is also missing here:  It should be before the third word in the verse, which is translated as wisdom.

וַיַּעַל הַמֶּלֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹה מַס מִכָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיְהִי הַמַּס שְׁלֹשִׁים אֶלֶף אִישׁ׃   5:27

1Kin. 5:27   And king Solomon raised a levy from all Israel, and the levy was thirty thousand men.

Another et is missing here:  It should be before the fourth word in the verse, which is translated as a levy.

וַיִּשְׁלָחֵם לְבָנוֹנָה עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים בַּחֹדֶשׁ חֲלִיפוֹת חֹדֶשׁ יִהְיוּ בַלְּבָנוֹן שְׁנַיִם חֳדָשִׁים בְּבֵיתוֹ וַאֲדֹנִירָם   5:28 עַל־הַמַּס׃

1Kin. 5:28   And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand in months rotating.  A month they would be in Lebanon, two months in their house.  And Adoniram was over the levy.

וַיְהִי לִשְׁלֹמֹה שִׁבְעִים אֶלֶף נֹשֵׂא סַבָּל וּשְׁמֹנִים אֶלֶף חֹצֵב בָּהָר׃   5:29

1Kin. 5:29  And there were seventy thousand bearers of burdens and eighty thousand hewers in the mountains for Solomon,

לְבַד מִשָּׂרֵי הַנִּצָּבִים לִשְׁלֹמֹה אֲשֶׁר עַל־הַמְּלָאכָה שְׁלֹשֶׁת אֲלָפִים וּשְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת הָרֹדִים בָּעָם   5:30

  הָעֹשִׂים בַּמְּלָאכָה׃

1Kin. 5:30   apart from the captains of the officers of Solomon's who were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, who were ruling among the people who were laboring with the work.

וַיְצַו הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיַּסִּעוּ אֲבָנִים גְּדֹלוֹת אֲבָנִים יְקָרוֹת לְיַסֵּד הַבָּיִת אַבְנֵי גָזִית׃   5:31

1Kin. 5:31   And the king commanded and they brought huge stones, excellent stones to lay the foundation of the house, stones of hewing.

וַיִּפְסְלוּ בֹּנֵי שְׁלֹמֹה וּבֹנֵי חִירוֹם וְהַגִּבְלִים וַיָּכִינוּ הָעֵצִים וְהָאֲבָנִים לִבְנוֹת הַבָּיִת׃   5:32

1Kin. 5:32   And the builders of Solomon and the builders of Hiram and the Gebalites fashioned, and they prepared the timbers and the stones to build the house.

Pardon me for pointing this out, but there are three ets missing here:  They should be before the fourth-from-last word, the third-from-last word, and the last word in the verse.  The first two words are direct objects of the verb prepared and the last one is the direct object of to build.  By the way, the Gebalites were the men of Gebal, a city in Lebanon.                                                                                                                        [Return to Ezra 4:3]
