Psalms 108

 

This psalm is said to be made up of two earlier psalms.  Verses 2 to 6 are similar to 57:8 to 12, and vss. 7 to 14 are almost identical to 60:7 to 14.

שִׁיר מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד׃   108:1

Psal. 108:1   A song, a psalm of David's:

נָכוֹן לִבִּי אֱלֹהִים אָשִׁירָה וַאֲזַמְּרָה אַף־כְּבוֹדִי׃   108:2

Psal. 108:2   My heart is steadfast, God;

                                 I will sing -- and sing praises

                        -- so much is my abundance.

עוּרָה הַנֵּבֶל וְכִנּוֹר אָעִירָה שָּׁחַר׃   108:3

Psal. 108:3   Stir up the lute and the harp;

                                  I will rouse the dawn.

אוֹדְךָ בָעַמִּים יְהוָה וַאֲזַמֶּרְךָ בַּל־אֻמִּים׃   108:4

Psal. 108:4   I will give thanks to You among the peoples, Lord,

                                  and sing praises to You throughout the nations.

כִּי־גָדוֹל מֵעַל־שָׁמַיִם חַסְדֶּךָ וְעַד־שְׁחָקִים אֲמִתֶּךָ׃   108:5

Psal. 108:5   For Your mercy is greater than beyond heaven,

                                  and Your truth is up to the stars.

רוּמָה עַל־שָׁמַיִם אֱלֹהִים וְעַל כָּל־הָאָרֶץ כְּבוֹדֶךָ׃   108:6

Psal. 108:6   Be exalted above the heavens, O God,

                                  and let Your glory be over all the earth.

לְמַעַן יֵחָלְצוּן יְדִידֶיךָ הוֹשִׁיעָה יְמִינְךָ וַעֲנֵנִי׃   108:7

Psal. 108:7   That Your beloved ones may be delivered,

                                 deliver Your right “hand,” and answer us.

אֱלֹהִים דִּבֶּר בְּקָדְשׁוֹ אֶעְלֹזָה אֲחַלְּקָה שְׁכֶם וְעֵמֶק סֻכּוֹת אֲמַדֵּד׃   108:8

Psal. 108:8   God spoke by His holiness:  I shall triumph;

                                  I shall divide Shechem,

                        and measure off the valley of Succoth.

לִי גִלְעָד לִי מְנַשֶּׁה וְאֶפְרַיִם מָעוֹז רֹאשִׁי יְהוּדָה מְחֹקְקִי׃   108:9

Psal. 108:9   Gilead shall be mine,

                                  Manasseh shall be mine,

                        and Ephraim shall be the protector of my head,

                                   Judah my legislator,

מוֹאָב סִיר רַחְצִי עַל־אֱדוֹם אַשְׁלִיךְ נַעֲלִי עֲלֵי־פְלֶשֶׁת אֶתְרוֹעָע׃   108:10

Psal. 108:10   Moab shall be my washing pan.

                                    I shall cast down my shoe against Edom;

                          over Philistia I shall shout in triumph.

מִי יֹבִלֵנִי עִיר מִבְצָר מִי נָחַנִי עַד־אֱדוֹם׃   108:11

Psal. 108:11   Who brings me the enclosed city,

                                   Who leads me as far as Edom?

הֲלֹא־אֱלֹהִים זְנַחְתָּנוּ וְלֹא־תֵצֵא אֱלֹהִים בְּצִבְאֹתֵינוּ׃   108:12

Psal. 108:12   O God, have You not spurned us,

                                    and will You not come forth with our hosts, O God?

הָבָה־לָּנוּ עֶזְרָת מִצָּר וְשָׁוְא תְּשׁוּעַת אָדָם׃   108:13

Psal. 108:13   Give us relief from the enemy,

                                    as the salvation of a man is worthless.

בֵּאלֹהִים נַעֲשֶׂה־חָיִל וְהוּא יָבוּס צָרֵינוּ׃   108:14

Psal. 108:14   With God we can be effective,

                                    and He will trample our foes.
